Visionary Giving
is
an annual membership that is designed to perpetuate with corporations,
organizations, schools, and individuals.
An annual brochure is published to recognize contributions of
$1,000 to $50,000. A gift or pledge of $1,000 or
more, or a combination of gifts totaling $1,000 +, given to your LOCAL
Chapter between January 1 and December 31 is eligible for inclusion in
this distinguished membership. When you reach the $1,000 level, you will
also be recognized in our Visionary Giving publication that is scheduled to print the first quarter of
each year.
Historically, Red Cross fundraising has
been focused on “disaster relief” and more crisis-oriented.
Establishing a formal, annual fundraising program will strengthen
all aspects of the operations. With
the assistance of this program, the intent is that American Red Cross services
will be available locally when the need arises.
Red
Cross takes pride in partnering with prominent businesses and individuals
who share the same passion to support the community in the most effective
and efficient manner possible.

As an extension of our Visionary Giving
Program, Women of Vision was established.
Women have been the foundation for many successful grass-root
organizations and the American Red Cross is certainly no exception.
Clara Barton, a school teacher, founded the first local American
Red Cross Chapter in August 1881. Because
Clara was such a VISIONARY, our recognition program, Women of
Vision, was introduced. This program recognizes annual
giving of $1,000 and above. Through
this program, our LOCAL Chapter will be able to carry out the Red Cross
mission with the support of LOCAL, compassionate and committed women.
We are very proud and excited to announce that 65 Women
of Vision members have demonstrated their commitment to the
American Red Cross mission by becoming founding members.
Here are
just a few examples how Women of Vision donations recently
helped our Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES):
§
1,360 emergency communications between a member of
the Armed Forces and their family were transmitted through the AFES
program, which operated 24 hours a day 365 day a year.
§
An AFES caseworker was able to send a message to a
soldier overseas whose wife gave birth to their first child, two months
premature, weighing 1 pound 5/8 ounces.
The serviceman was granted emergency leave to be with his wife
and new child.
§
The Red Cross conducted “deployment briefings”
for military units and their families, providing information about
available Red Cross services and how to access them.
During a recent deployment ceremony for soldiers heading to
Iraq
, a soldier’s wife became emotional as the soldiers lined up in
formation. The Red Cross
volunteer shared that she too was a military spouse and understood her
sadness. The volunteer
encouraged her to make contact with the Red Cross if she needed someone
to communicate her feelings and anxieties to.
§
A sibling called the Red Cross requesting a soldier’s
presence due to the grave illness of their mother.
The serviceman was able to come home and see his mother before
she passed away. The family
was very appreciative of the Red Cross and the caseworker who showed
compassion during their difficult time.
