EMPLOYEE COMMUNITY FUND OF BOEING ALABAMA AWARDS GRANT TO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY REGION

OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS

On behalf of member employees, the Board of Trustees of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Alabama recently awarded a grant in the amount of $8,430 to the Tennessee Valley Region of the American Red Cross.  Funding will be used to purchase cots and blankets utilized in mass sheltering operations following the aftermath of a disaster.  The areas specifically impacted by this donation include the Alabama counties of Colbert, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan and the Southern Tennessee counties of Lincoln and Lawrence.  The American Red Cross Chapters and the people they serve will directly benefit from this generous contribution.

The mission of the American Red Cross is to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.  Mary Moreillon, Regional Executive Director, states, “American Red Cross volunteers are dedicated to responding to disasters in a timely manner, while providing basic emergency and immediate disaster-caused needs to those affected.  The addition of supplies supported by the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Alabama will enhance our readiness efforts.  Equipment and trained personnel are strategically pre-positioned in American Red Cross chapters throughout the region.  Once a disaster strikes, we mobilize our resources to the impacted area.”

All American Red Cross Disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.  Help people affected by disasters like the recent outbreak of tornadoes in North Alabama, by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.  On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters.  Your donation enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims of disaster.  Call 1-800-REDCROSS or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish).  Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P O Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.  Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.redcross.org.
