NURSE ASSISTANT TRAINING COURSE

FULL SESSION FACT SHEET

 

This 80 hour state-of-the-art Nurse Assistant Training Course is designed to prepare the career-minded individual to begin a career in the health care field.  You will receive 80 hours of combined classroom, lab, and clinical training in an area long term care facility.  Students will have a mid-term exam, final exam and skills test in this course.  Upon successful completion of our course, you will be eligible to take the state board exam that will provide you with the title of Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). 

 

Schedule:                    Tue/Thurs       8:30 am – 12:30 pm     OR    6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

                                    Mon/Wed classes may be available based on demand

 

Course Fees:              Tuition     $600

 

The course fees are required to be paid in full prior to the first scheduled day of class. An alternative payment plan for the tuition portion is available as follows and must be arranged before classes begin:

 

A minimum down payment of $300 is required to register.  The balance of $300 must be paid in full during the first 6 weeks of the course, with a weekly minimum of $50.  For accounting reasons, only the down payment may be paid in cash.  Weekly payments must be made by personal check, money order, credit or debit cards ONLY.  Weekly payments are due at the first weekly session of class and collected by the instructor.       

 

Location:                    American Red Cross building located on Washington Street with the exception of the last 20 hours of class, which is clinical training conducted at an area nursing home under the supervision of your instructor. 

 

Medical Release:      These medical forms must be completed and turned in the first day of class:

 

1.                  Health Evaluation Forms

a.      Part 1 – to be completed out by applicant

b.      Part 2 – to be completed by physician

 

2.         TB Skin Test Record – Step 2 takes two weeks

 

Certification:              Upon successful completion of our course, you are eligible to take the state board exam that actually provides you with the title of Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).  The state testing fee (effective July 1, 2005) is $95 and is offered one to two times a month at the American Red Cross facility in Huntsville.  Prior to the end of the course, students are assisted in the application process for testing.  The state board consists of a written and manual test.  Oral testing is available.

 

Prerequisite:               Social Security number is required for the state board exam.  Federal law does not allow convicted felons to train or work in a nursing home or become a Certified Nurse Assistant.
